What is Presbyopia
Presbyopia is a refractive disorder causing the eye to focus light behind rather than on the retina when looking at close objects.
Every point of the object is pictured in the retina as a confusing circle causing the object to appear cloudy.
The presbyopic person has a poor near vision.
What may cause presbyopia
The condition usually occurs after the age of 45, reaches a peak at the age of 60 and then comes to a stop.
Diagnosis
A diagnosis of presbyopia is made after an eye examination performed by an ophthalmologist.
Treatment
Presbyopia can be treated with:
- vision glasses
- contact lenses
- refractive surgery
- surgery for replacing the crystalline, natural eye lens
